Anti- wrinkle injectors most commonly called “Botox” are actually referred to as Botulinum Toxin. Botulinum Toxin temporarily blocks the signals from the nerves to the muscles, causing the muscle to relax. Our nerves regenerate the signals to the muscles, therefore needing injections every 3-4 months but vary with each individual. Over time with ongoing injections, the muscles adjust to the relaxed state causing the fine lines and wrinkles to be less severe.

You will notice the results within 7-10 days.

A very fine needle is used and generally this treatment is not painful and can be well tolerated with no anaesthetic. Ice may be helpful in numbing the skin for nervous patients as well as reducing the risk of a bruise.

Common areas that are treated with Botulinum Toxin are Frown Lines, Crow’s Feet, Forehead, Gummy Smile, Bunny Lines, Lip Lines, Turkey Neck (Neck Bands), Slimming of Jaw Muscles (Masseters), and Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating).

Pre-Treatment

Please come to appointment with a clean face with no make up if possible.

Avoid alcohol, ibuprofen, gingo, vitamin E, fish oil and omega 3’s for 72 hours prior to appointment.

Avoid getting any vaccinations 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

Ensure you are feeling well and your appointment is 2 weeks post any illness.

No antibiotic use for 2 weeks prior to your appointment

Post-Treatment

Do not rub or massage the treated area for 24 hrs.

Do not lie down or bend over for 4 hours after treatment.

No saunas, extreme heat or exercise, or sports for 24 hrs.

Results start within 3-7 days post treatment, with full results seen in 14 days.
