What Areas Can Be Treated?

Lumecca IPL can be used on many areas of the body, the most common areas being zones that are regularly exposed to the sun. This includes face, neck, chest, arms and hands.

During the Procedure

During the treatment a cool gel will be applied to the targeted area. There will be a bright flash of light and a sensation of a light snap of an elastic band on the skin while the wand moves over the target area. Treatment usually takes an hour but can vary depending on the size of the problem area.

Results

Over the next 24-48 hours after the treatment you may see darkening of pigmented spots. The 1-2 weeks following, the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an even skin tone. An improved skin appearance can be noted after 1 session, but optimal results are 3 treatments a month apart. Treatment regime depends on the severity of the skin damage, skin type and energy settings.

Pre-Treatment

Avoid direct, excessive sun exposure or tanning one month prior to treatment.

We are unable to treat if you are tanned.

No use of Accutane 6 months prior to treatment.

Stop Retinol creams 2-3 days before treatment.

Post-Treatment

2 weeks after treatment, exfoliate the area to remove crusted pigment areas.

Sunblock should be worn for 3 weeks following each treatment and indefinitely.

Moisturizer may be applied after each treatment.

Make-up may be applied immediately after the treatment if skin is intact.
