Dermal Filler

Dermal Filler is a non-surgical way to restore facial volume and enhance your youthfulness. Dermal fillers are injected directly into the skin to provide instant correction. The most common compound in fillers is Hyaluronic Acid (HA), which is a natural substance found in our skin that is responsible for hydration and volumizing. Filler usually last 6 months before it is absorbed into our body.

Many dermal fillers contain local anaesthetic to provide pain relief during the procedure although some practitioners may apply a topical anaesthetic cream or ice prior to treatment to numb the skin. The procedure may be uncomfortable but is not usually painful.

Common areas that are treated with Dermal Filler are Cheeks, Chin, Lips, Nasolabial fold, and Marionette lines.

Pre Treatment

Stop taking the following 3-5 days prior to treatment: Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, St John's Wort, Omega 3 (fish oil), Vit E, Ginger, Garlic, Alcohol, Green Tea, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng.

Drink Pineapple juice, it can help minimize bruising!

Do not discontinue prescription aspirin or blood thinners unless permitted by family doctor.

Avoid dental work/cleanings at least 2 weeks prior to receiving treatment.

Ensure you are feeling well prior to your appointment with no antibiotics use 2 weeks prior.

Avoid any vaccines 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

Post Treatment

Swelling, redness and bruising can occur. A cold compress may be used after treatment to reduce swelling.

Do not touch or rub areas injected for 6 hours after treatment.

Avoid extreme heat (sun exposure, sauna, tanning beds) for 2-3 days.

No strenuous activity for 2-3 days.

Avoid application of make-up for at least 24 hrs.

No air travel after treatment for at least 7 days.

No dental work/cleanings for 2 weeks after treatment.

Discontinue use of retinal products for 2-3 days.
